Kevin De Bruyne has admitted he could well stay at Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen next season.

The Belgian midfielder has been hugely impressive in the German top flight and Werder Bremen coach Klaus Allofs has showered praise upon him, going on the record as hoping the 21-year-old will still be at his disposal next year.

De Bruyne has other suitors in Germany too, with Wolfsburg and Schalke also keen.

And what might happen next season is something De Bruyne does not know, though he believes he could remain at Werder Bremen, certainly.

"It is possible that I could stay", he told German sports magazine Kicker.

"However, I do not know what Chelsea have in store for me."

De Bruyne is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2017.

He does though have fierce competition for a first team spot in his preferred position, with Chelsea boasting the talents of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Juan Mata and Victor Moses.

And De Bruyne has insisted he does not want to return to the Blues just to warm the bench.
