Leeds United are fearful of losing striker Luciano Becchio during the current transfer window, the club’s assistant manager has admitted.

Becchio has been in prolific form for Leeds, hitting 19 goals in 29 games, and it is no surprise that the Yorkshire giants believe other clubs may be eyeing up a swoop for the 29-year-old.

And assistant boss Mick Jones has admitted he is worried about approaches in the current window.

"My biggest fear is that there could be pressure on us from other clubs for him", Jones told the BBC.

"Look at his form at the moment and he’s bound to be hot property.

"I’d be worried if certain clubs came in for him both here and abroad."

Leeds will be desperate to keep hold of the Argentine hitman to aid in their push for promotion to the Premier League.

At present Neil Warnock’s side sit eighth in the Championship, with 38 points from 26 games.

Leeds are currently just two points off the playoff places.
