Leeds United defender Jason Pearce is hoping that the Yorkshire giants can enjoy a good run in the FA Cup, similar to that which they clocked up in the League Cup earlier this season.

Leeds saw off Premier League opposition in the form of Everton and Southampton in the League Cup, reaching the quarter-final stage and only going out to a powerful Chelsea side.

In the FA Cup Fourth Round they would face Premier League opponents once again, in the shape of Tottenham Hotspur – but first they must come through a Third Round replay against Birmingham City.

And that is the match Pearce is focusing on first, not the potential reward of playing Spurs.

"I don’t really think about that at the moment, we’ve got to get there first", he told his club’s official site.

"We had a great run in the Capital One Cup and now we want to do that in the FA Cup", he continued.

"The gaffer knows the importance of the league, the league comes first and we want to put that right. It’s good to have a good cup run as well."

Leeds meet Birmingham for the replay on Tuesday 15th January to fight for the right to host Spurs.
