Luka Modric is considering leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season, with Chelsea and Manchester United potential destinations for the Croatian, according to Voetbal Primeur.

The 27-year-old arrived at the Bernabeu just last summer from Tottenham Hotspur, but has started just eight of Real Madrid’s 18 La Liga matches so far.

And this is believed to have disappointed Modric, who is now considering heading back to the English Premier League if his situation does not improve during the second half of the campaign.

The Croatia international would then look towards Chelsea and Manchester United as potential destinations, which each having held an interest in him in the recent past.

Should Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho hand Modric further chances to impress though, the playmaker is minded to stay at Los Blancos and continue to work to cement himself as a permanent fixture in the side in 2013/14.

He does though face tough opposition from Mesut Ozil, who is highly rated within the corridors of power at Real Madrid, and has started 16 La Liga matches in the current campaign.

Modric is on a long-term contract in the Spanish capital, which runs until 2017.
