Sunderland have confirmed the signing of midfielder Alfred N’Diaye from Turkish side Bursaspor.

The Black Cats have been keen to reinforce their squad during the current transfer window and the arrival of the 22-year-old will be a welcome boost for manager Martin O’Neill.

And O’Neill struck a delighted note when announcing the capture of the Frenchman.

"Alfred is a strong, powerful young player and as such can offer us more strength in depth", the Northern Irishman told his club’s official site.

"He will give us options and I’m delighted that we have been able to bring him to the club."

N’Diaye is a France Under-21 international and started his career at Ligue 1 outfit Nancy before he headed to Turkish football in 2011.

The midfielder has penned a three-and-a-half-year at the Stadium of Light.

He has been handed the number 4 shirt at the club and will be hopeful of making a positive impact.
