Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world at present and must be a strong contender for the 2013 Ballon d’Or.
Bale watched Ronaldo smash in a hat-trick for Real Madrid on Wednesday evening, when they crushed Celta Vigo 4-0 at the Bernabeu in the Copa del Rey.
It was an impressive performance from Ronaldo, especially given he had lost the 2012 Ballon d’Or to arch-rival Lionel Messi just days earlier.
And for Bale, Real Madrid icon Ronaldo is currently number one in the world.

"Another hat-trick for Ronaldo!", exclaimed Bale via his Twitter feed.
"I think he’s the best all round player in the world right not #ballondor2013".
Ronaldo looks likely to be Messi’s main competition for this year’s Ballon d’Or, with the Portuguese perhaps the only thing standing between the Argentine and five consecutive accolades.
Further in the future, Bale himself will hope to challenge for football’s highest individual honour.
