Defender Jonny Evans feels that Manchester United will be fully prepared for the challenge of Liverpool on Sunday, pointing out that they have already beaten the Reds, along with Chelsea and Manchester City, away from home this season.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have been superb at picking off the Premier League’s fellow big clubs in the current campaign, with Arsenal also beaten at Old Trafford.

Now the Red Devils will have the chance to do a league double over Liverpool when the two fierce rivals go head-to-head on Sunday.

And Evans feels that the side are perhaps better prepared for these types of matches than they were last season.

"We’ve beaten Chelsea, Liverpool and City all away from home", the defender told Inside United.

"They’re big games, which we’d gladly take three points from. In seasons gone past we sometimes haven’t been able to get results in those big games, so that is a big boost for us.

"We don’t sit there at the start of the season and say, ‘right, we need to win this game and that one’, because we know that football doesn’t work like that.

"But I think what we have done going into those games is to be better prepared."

Should Manchester United put Liverpool to the sword, they will sit an astonishing 24 points ahead of the Merseyside club, a further sign not just of Ferguson’s ability to keep the Red Devils at the top of the pile, but also of the speedy decline of their rivals from Anfield.
