Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he will be keeping a close eye on this month’s African Cup of Nations tournament, which he feels offers a real opportunity to discover new talents.

Wenger readily concedes that he does not know all the players that will be taking part in the 2013 edition in South Africa and will be a keen observer.

And the Gunners boss may even unearth the odd gem.

"I will have a very close eye on that. It is always interesting, you can discover players", he told his club’s official site.

Wenger will lose Ivorian forward Gervinho to the African Cup of Nations, where the former Lille man will be bidding to help the Elephants to pick up the continental trophy.

Arsenal meanwhile have a series of crucial matches over the next few weeks, a spell which starts on Sunday when Manchester City visit the Emirates Stadium.

The following weekend, Arsenal make the short trip across London to face Chelsea, in what looks a key clash in the top four race.
