Belgium shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois has reaffirmed his desire to remain with Atletico Madrid next season.

Courtois is on loan from Chelsea at the Vicente Calderon and has been impressive as part of Diego Simeone’s side.

Indeed, Courtois is rated as the third-best goalkeeper in La Liga, behind Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas and Barcelona’s Victor Valdes; he has even been mooted as a potential successor for Casillas at the Bernabeu.

At present, the former Genk shot-stopper is due to return to Chelsea during the summer, but he is keen for his loan spell in Spain to enter a third year; Courtois first joined Atletico Madrid in 2011.

"I am under contract with Chelsea, but I am very satisfied", Courtois told Spanish daily AS.

"We have to see what Chelsea want, but I would be happy if I could play for another year [with Atletico Madrid]."

The Belgian admits though that he has not brought his situation up with the Blues.

"I have not had a conversation with Chelsea.

"If I do not play with Atletico in the future it is the best club I could be a goalkeeper at."

Courtois is viewed by Chelsea as the long-term replacement for Czech Republic custodian Petr Cech.
