Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has poured cold water on talk that the club have received an offer for Yoann Gourcuff from Arsenal.

It had been suggested by the British press that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had sent a €5M bid over to Lyon for the 26-year-old midfield schemer.

However, despite Gourcuff being a player Wenger has tracked throughout his career, no offer has landed at the Stade Gerland, says Aulas.

"Arsenal and Gourcuff? I do not know anything about an offer", the Lyon supremo told beINSport.

"I have not had any discussions with Arsenal. And we have not offered him to Spartak Moscow, this is not true."

Gourcuff’s promising career, which saw him labelled as the next Zinedine Zidane at Bordeaux, has declined steadily in recent years.

Injuries and poor form have contributed towards a forgettable spell at Lyon so far, however Les Gones remain hopeful the midfielder can recapture the form of earlier in his career.

He has played eight times in Ligue 1 in the current campaign.
