QPR striker Djibril Cisse has disappointed Panathinaikos fans by explaining that he will not be returning to the club in this month’s transfer window.

Cisse has been linked with a return to Panathinaikos, the club he turned out for between 2009 and 2011, with prolific form in front of goal.

But the 31-year-old will not be heading back to Greece, much to the disappointment of the Panathinaikos faithful.

"To all my Panathinaikos fans, I’m sorry that I’m unable to come for the rest of the saison [sic], you all know that I love this team", Cisse wrote on his Twitter feed.

The striker joined English Premier League outfit QPR during the 2012 January transfer window.

He headed to England from Italian side Lazio, who he joined from Panathinaikos in 2011.

Cisse has scored three goals in 18 Premier League matches for the Rs so far this season, as they have struggled. His contract at Loftus Road runs until 2014.
