Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez has backed Fernando Torres to get back to his best.

Torres has never truly returned to the form he showed at Liverpool before his £50M switch to Stamford Bridge in January 2011, though hopes are high that Benitez, who bossed him at Anfield during his best years, can once again coax out regular brilliance from the Spaniard.

Torres also now has genuine competition at Chelsea, with the arrival of Demba Ba.

But Benitez has faith that Torres can get back to his best.

Asked about Torres’ form, Benitez said via his club’s official feed: "I am sure Fernando will return to the level he was before."

Benitez also stated his hope that defender John Terry will be able to take part in Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

"It’s important to have players with character on the pitch", he said.

"We are working hard with John and will see tomorrow how he feels."

Terry was on the bench during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Southampton earlier this week. His return to the starting line-up would be a huge boost for the Blues, in a game they need to take three points from.
