Barcelona have gone down to their first defeat of the Spanish league season, losing 3-2.

The Catalan giants had taken 55 points from a possible 57 going into today’s match away at mid-table outfit Real Sociedad.

Lionel Messi and co. were strongly fancied to grab another win and increase the distance between themselves and second-placed Atletico Madrid and third-placed Real Madrid.

And all did look to be going Barcelona’s way as they raced into a two-goal lead, as Messi and then Pedro struck, meaning it was 2-0 by the 25th minute.

Then though Real Sociedad pulled a goal back before half time through Chroi Castro, who then dramatically levelled things in the 63rd minute, against ten men, with Barcelona having had Gerard Pique sent off in the 56th minute.

The winner for Real Sociedad came right at the death when Imanol Agirretxe found the back of the net, inflicting upon Barcelona a first loss of the campaign.
