Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has saluted team-mate Robin van Persie, insisting it is not just goalscoring that the Dutchman brings to the table.

Van Persie has been a sensation since he arrived at Old Trafford from Arsenal over the summer, settling instantly into life with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.

The 29-year-old’s goals have understandably been the focus of his game, with 17 in 22 Premier League games and three in four Champions League matches.

But for Welbeck, Van Persie has much more than just lethal finishing to his game.

"Robin is a world-class striker and it’s great to be playing alongside him", Welbeck told his club’s official site.

"He is deadly in front of goal, but it’s not just his goalscoring that he’s added to the team.

"It’s his all-round play. He is bringing others into the play very well and he’s holding the ball up as well.

"As you watch him closer every single day you get to know how good a player he is.

"You can learn from Robin, but also other great players in the whole of the Manchester United squad."

Van Persie will be in action later today when Manchester United travel to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

The Red Devils surprisingly lost the earlier fixture between the two at Old Trafford and will surely have revenge on their minds.
