Pepe Reina is wanted by both Barcelona and Manchester United, and could leave Liverpool for one of the two clubs in the summer, according to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo.

In Spain, Barcelona are pondering how to replace Victor Valdes, who has indicated that he will not sign a new contract at the Camp Nou.

Valdes’ current deal expires in 2014, though it is thought more than possible he could be on the move this summer.

Reina is a popular option at the Camp Nou, given his association with the club; the goalkeeper was developed at Barcelona and progressed through the club’s C and B teams to the senior squad, before leaving for Villarreal in 2002.

Returning to Barcelona would undoubtedly be tempting for Reina, who has now gone several seasons without Champions League football at Liverpool.

However, the 30-year-old may well be offered the chance to stay in England with Liverpool’s fierce rivals Manchester United.

Doubts continue to persist over Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, and boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a fan of Reina.

Snapping up the Spaniard from Liverpool could prove difficult though, with a move to Old Trafford sure to make Reina an unpopular figure amongst the Reds’ faithful, while the club could also attract some ire for the sale.
