Maarten Stekelenburg’s agent has dismissed the transfer talk surrounding his client as merely speculation at present.

The Dutch shot-stopper has fallen out of favour at current club Roma and has been linked with an exit.

Barcelona, who are searching for a successor to Victor Valdes, have been mooted as contenders for his signature, while Martin Jol’s Fulham are also thought to be keen.

But Stekelenburg’s agent Rob Jansen has insisted that at present there are no solid offers on the table for the former Ajax goalkeeper.

"At this moment, all transfer rumours are just pure speculation", Jansen told Calcio Mercato.

"We have not yet received a concrete proposal from a club.

"The chances of him staying at AS Roma are therefore still real."

Stekelenburg has fallen out of favour at the Giallorossi, with his relationship with coach Zdenek Zeman strained.

It does seem only a matter of time before the Holland international is on the move, with safeguarding his international place under Louis van Gaal a concern.
