Yann M’Vila is heading to Rubin Kazan after the Russian Premier League side pushed ahead to secure his signature, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

The highly-rated midfielder is expected to undergo a medical with Rubin Kazan before putting pen to paper on what is a lucrative four-and-a-half-year contract.

M’Vila has been linked with a whole host of clubs, with English Premier League side QPR appearing to lead the chase at one stage.

But in Russia, M’Vila is set to pocket €3.9M per year in his first year, €4.2M in his second, €4.6M in the third and then €4.8M in the fourth.

And while QPR offered to place a 20% sell-on clause in M’Vila’s contract, the player’s club Rennes preferred Rubin Kazan’s €11.5M cash deal.

Now, barring a remarkable turnaround, M’Vila will sign for Rubin Kazan.

The Russian side have been the subject of a transfer embargo, which looked to be placing the deal at risk.

However, it is understood they had planned to attempt to have that removed in order that M’Vila could sign. Efforts in that regard will surely be stepped up this week.

At present it appears the only thing which could scupper the deal.
