Inter are poised to decide whether to sell Philippe Coutinho, with the decision far from straightforward for the Nerazzurri.

The Italian giants want to buy Paulinho from Corinthians and had planned to sell Argentine schemer Ricardo Alvarez to help fund the switch.

However, according to Tutto Mercato, the Nerazzurri are struggling to generate sufficient interest in Alvarez, while Atletico Madrid are willing to take the midfielder, but only on loan at first.

This stands in stark contrast to the situation of Coutinho, a player Inter do not really want to sell.

Liverpool have offered €8M for the Brazilian, while Southampton are prepared to pay €12M.

Selling Coutinho would help Inter to realise their dream of snapping up Paulinho – but it is a step the Nerazzurri are not that keen on taking, with the 20-year-old attacking schemer tipped for big things.

Now Inter are set to decide whether to put their trust in Coutinho and possibly give up on buying Paulinho during the current transfer window, or sell Coutinho and launch a renewed assault for Paulinho.

The Nerazzurri are expected to soon reach their verdict.
