Fenerbache have made an approach for Lyon schemer Yoann Gourcuff, but the player is not keen on moving to Turkey.

The Yellow Canaries have been interested in signing Younes Belhanda from Montpellier, as they search for a new creative midfielder to answer rivals’ Galatasaray’s coup of snapping up Wesley Sneijder.

But they have so far failed to land the Montpellier man and, according to Mercato 365, have made an enquiry for Gourcuff.

However, the Lyon schemer does not want to leave the Stade Gerland for Turkey and has given the approach a frosty reception.

Gourcuff has been strongly linked with Arsenal during the current transfer window and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is known to be a fan of the 26-year-old.

And the chance to move to the Emirates Stadium would surely be tempting for the former Bordeaux schemer, though it remains to be seen if the opportunity arises before the window closes.

Lyon need to cut costs this month and the departure of Gourcuff, who is a high earner, could fit the bill. He will not though be heading to Turkey.
