AC Milan have announced the capture of Cristian Zaccardo from Parma.

The Rossoneri have had the experienced full-back on their shopping list since the start of the month and have finally got their man.

"We are happy, Zaccardo is a good player", said Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani to the club’s TV channel.

Zaccardo was a member of the Italy squad which won the World Cup in 2006.

He had a spell in Germany with Wolfsburg between 2008 and 2009, before returning to Italy with Parma.

Zaccardo himself is delighted to become a Milan player, stating it is something which makes him proud.

"I am proud to have joined Milan", he admitted.

"The negotiations started a few weeks ago and now here I am. I can play in the centre of defence or at full-back and I will give my best."

It is not yet clear whether Milan will add anyone else during the current transfer window, but the Rossoneri have held talks over swoops for Kaka, Mario Balotelli and Didier Drogba.

All represent expensive options however.
