Manchester United could be a surprise destination for out-of-favour AC Milan winger Urby Emanuelson during the current transfer window, according to Calcio Mercato.

Emanuelson has lost his place in the Milan first team in recent months and the player’s agent has admitted that he is unhappy with his situation, while the Dutchman’s representatives cannot understand the reason for his omission from the Rossoneri ranks.

The Holland international could have a remarkable escape from Italy provided though, as he has come to the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

Ferguson is thought to be monitoring Emanuelson’s situation, although he is not a priority target for the Red Devils at present.

It is believed as little as €8M could be enough to sign the former Ajax man, who would surely jump at the chance to move to Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has made 12 appearances in Serie A for Milan this season, while he also featured in all six of the club’s Champions League group matches.
