French Ligue 1 side Rennes have denied holding an interest in out-of-favour West Ham midfielder Alou Diarra.

The France international, who joined West Ham during the summer from Marseille, has hardly featured at Upton Park and is looking for the exit door, after speaking of his nightmare spell at the Hammers so far.

It had been suggested that Rennes could target Diarra as a replacement for Yann M’Vila, who has left to join Russian Premier League outfit Rubin Kazan.

But the club’s sporting director Pierre Dreossi insisted that those reports are wide of the mark.

"We know about Alou Diarra, like everyone does, but we are not tracking him", Dreossi was quoted as saying by Mercato 365.

"For now, it is not a priority for us", he continued.

"We just finished signing Anders Agnes Konradsen and selling Yann M’Vila.

"If there are opportunities, they will be discussed with the utmost seriousness, as has always been the case at Rennes."

Dreossi did admit that he was aware that Diarra could head away from West Ham on loan, but Rennes do not look, at present, to be a likely destination for the midfielder.

It remains to be seen to where the former Marseille man will move, but to enjoy more first team football during the second half of the campaign, he must surely switch away from Sam Allardyce’s men.
