Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has insisted the door is being kept open for goalkeeper Victor Valdes to change his mind on remaining at the club.

Valdes has opted against extending a contract which is due to expire in the summer of 2014, causing Barcelona to consider who his successor between the sticks might be.

The 31-year-old could even exit the Camp Nou as early as this summer, as Barcelona look to act decisively.

But Rosell has stressed that if Valdes changes his mind and wants to stay, he need only inform the club, and talks will begin over a new contract once again.

"The door is open for him", Rosell told his club’s official site.

"We are ready for talks if he reconsiders his position.

"We would be happy if he stays with Barca."

It is not clear to where Valdes will head when he does leave Barcelona, but the fact that the Spaniards remain desperate for him to stay opens the door for a change of heart on the part of the shot-stopper.
