Lewis Holtby has explained he is relishing the chance to turn out for Tottenham Hotspur, having completed his switch to White Hart Lane.

Spurs had already secured Holtby on a pre-contractual agreement from Bundesliga outfit Schalke, but were desperate for the midfielder to arrive this month, rather than at the end of the season.

And so, Spurs sent a fee of around €2M to Schalke, to bring Holtby in early.

Now the Germany international is set to taste Premier League football.

"Ever since I decided to join Spurs in the summer, I had the feeling that I wanted to come here straight away", he explained to his new club’s official site.

"The talks with Andre Villas-Boas also made me feel so comfortable and I wanted to come here as soon as possible.

"All respect to Schalke as well. I had some great times there. I’m thankful to them. They gave me the opportunity to produce at the higher level and to get an offer from a team like Tottenham. I thank them for that."

Holtby also believes that he has joined a club that are definitely on the up.

"It’s fantastic to be here, a huge club, a club that’s getting bigger and bigger every year.

"There is so much quality here, the coaching staff is fantastic, the facilities – it’s the full package. Like footballers say, I’m over the moon!"

The midfielder could well make his Spurs debut this evening, with manager Villas-Boas admitting that he has included him in the squad for the Premier League clash against Norwich.
