Aston Villa have snapped up Simon Dawkins from Tottenham Hotspur on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old forward lands at Villa Park to bolster the squad ahead of the second half of the season relegation battle and will surely be looking forward to getting playing time under his belt.

A Spurs youth product, Dawkins has found it difficult to break through into the starting line-up at White Hart Lane and was loaned to MLS side San Jose Earthquakes in 2011/12.

The forward spent time on trial with Dutch side FC Twente in January 2012, but the club’s boss Steve McClaren opted against pursuing a deal.
