Leeds United have confirmed the signing of striker Habib Habibou on loan until the end of the season.

Habibou arrives at Elland Road from Belgian side Zulte Waregem aiming to impress, with Leeds having the option to make his move a permanent one at the end of the campaign.

The 25-year-old is a welcome striking boost for Leeds, who saw Luciano Becchio leave the club for Norwich City earlier today.

Leeds boss Neil Warnock revealed that the Yorkshire giants have been tracking Habibou for some time and he is pleased to bring the hitman to the club.

"He’s a player we’ve had across for a few days and we liked what we saw", Warnock said.

"We had the opportunity to take him on loan and that gives us a chance to have a longer look at him.

"He has terrific pace, a very good left foot and is capable of scoring goals. He has all the tools needed to be a success here."

"We think he could be an exciting prospect."

Habibou arrives with figures of 20 goals in 57 games for Zulte Waregem.
