Marseille have knocked back a bid of €1M from Stoke City for defender Rod Fanni.

According to Mercato365, the Potters got in touch with the French giants to make the bid for the 31-year-old, with the hope of taking him to the Britannia Stadium today before the transfer window slams shut.

However, Marseille president Vincent Labrune has ruled out selling Fanni this month and is determined to keep hold of the defender.

Fanni is one of the key men in coach Elie Baup’s side and a sale has been ruled out.

While it is understood that Fanni has a release clause in his contract, it only comes into force in the summer.

And that has allowed Marseille to block the player’s departure.

It remains to be seen if Stoke will return with a better offer before the transfer window closes.
