Liverpool assistant manager Colin Pascoe has confirmed that new signing Philippe Coutinho will not feature against Manchester City.

The Reds travel to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday for what is yet another key Premier League clash, hot on the heels of a trip to Arsenal in midweek, a game that finished 2-2.

But Liverpool’s final signing of the January transfer window, Coutinho, who was snapped up from Inter, will not be available for selection.

And so Liverpool fans will have to wait a little longer to see the Vasco da Gama youth product in a red shirt.

"He’s away at the moment, getting things sorted", Pascoe told his club’s official site.

"On Monday or Tuesday, he’ll come here and we’ll assess him then", he added.

Brendan Rodgers’ right hand man also revealed that Jose Enrique is progressing well after coming back from injury, with the Spaniard having trained today.

Liverpool will hope to shock the champions at the Etihad Stadium, but will have to do it without Coutinho.
