Stephan El Shaarawy has his eye on partnering Mario Balotelli at the 2014 World Cup with Italy.

The country’s two brightest attacking hopes have been paired up at AC Milan after the Rossoneri splashed the cash to buy Balotelli from Manchester City.

Balotelli marked his Milan debut with a brace yesterday, scoring both goals as the Rossoneri beat Udinese 2-1 in Serie A.

Thoughts are turning to what a Balotelli-El Shaarawy partnership for the Azzurri could do on the international stage – and El Shaarawy hopes it happens.

"It is a pleasure to play alongside Mario", he told Sport Mediaset.

"Hopefully [we’ll play together at the World Cup], but first we must continue to do well for Milan and then we’ll see.

"We have to think from game to game and try to reach third place."

Italy are in action this week against Holland in an international friendly.

Both Balotelli and El Shaarawy have been called up for the clash against Louis van Gaal’s men.
