Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has given his backing to David Beckham’s move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 37-year-old midfielder has joined PSG on a contract running until the end of the season following his departure from MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy.

Beckham has agreed to donate the salary he would receive at the club to a local children’s charity in the French capital.

But while his off the pitch gesture is to be applauded, doubts remain over whether he can cut the mustard on the pitch for the Ligue 1 club.

For Sagna though, signing Beckham is a good move from PSG.

"He is very good and will be beneficial for Paris", the Arsenal defender told a press conference.

"Even at 37 he does everything to help his team-mates.

"In a short space of time, everyone will want to reach his level."

Sagna got a look at Beckham at close quarters recently, with the former England captain training with Arsenal to keep fit before he joined PSG.

Beckham is sure to want to make an impact before the season is out and may possibly pick up a Ligue 1 winners medal for his troubles too.
