Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been voted the best French player of 2012 by the country’s Federation of National Associations of Blues Supporters (FANS).

The France number 1 received the majority of the votes and picked up his trophy last night after Les Bleus played Germany in a friendly.

The match ended 2-1 to Germany, but Lloris will at least have one positive memory of the occasion as he received a vote of confidence from the country’s supporters.

Lloris moved away from his homeland earlier this season, leaving to play in England with Tottenham Hotspur.

It took time for the shot-stopper to establish himself as Spurs’ number 1, but now he is firmly entrenched between the sticks at White Hart Lane.

At international level Lloris is firmly in place as France’s number 1.

The goalkeeper is widely considered the country’s finest custodian and his award from the FANS group is yet another sign of the esteem in which he is held in his homeland.
