Paris Saint-Germain hold a serious interest in Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, according to Italian daily Tuttosport.

Cavani is rapidly becoming the most-wanted goalscorer in world football, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitting he rates the Uruguayan highly, while the player’s name has also been mentioned in connection with Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid over the last 12 months.

Big spending PSG would have the firepower to compete with any side for Cavani’s signature and it has been claimed that the French club’s sporting director Leonardo has already held preliminary talks with the Uruguayan’s representatives.

It appears likely however that PSG will have to meet Cavani’s release clause to take him from the San Paulo.

Napoli are desperate to keep hold of the striker and have turned down approaches in the past.

But if PSG meet Cavani’s €63M release clause, the ball will be squarely in the Uruguayan’s court.

Cavani has again shown how lethal he is in front of goal for Napoli this season, hitting 18 goals so far in Serie A.

The player has declared his love for Napoli though and that may well be the biggest obstacle towards an eventual move elsewhere.
