Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that Jack Wilshere has what it takes to handle the hype surrounding him.

Wilshere returned from an injury hell earlier this season and has seen his performances steadily improve. The young midfielder put in a superb display for England as the Three Lions beat Brazil 2-1 last week, further sending his stock rocketing.

At the tender age of just 21 years old, there have been concerns raised about the level of expectation being heaped upon the midfielder – but Wenger thinks he is well prepared to handle it.

"Jack has a great career in front of him", Wenger told his club’s official site.

"He’s mentally strong and it’s not easy to handle all this hype at that age.

"He has his feet on the ground and I’m confident he will handle it very well."

Wenger did suffer a scare with Wilshere at the weekend, when he was forced to limp off against Sunderland, in a game Arsenal won 1-0.

However, despite failing to finish the match at the Stadium of Light, Wilshere is not thought to have picked up a serious injury and should be available for Arsenal’s next match, which is a visit from Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup Fifth Round next weekend.
