Advisor to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, Bernard Lacombe, has revealed that the club are concerned about the form of midfielder Yoann Gourcuff.

The 26-year-old was bought from Bordeaux in the summer of 2010 for a fee of €22M, but his time at the Stade Gerland has so far been a disappointment.

Gourcuff has suffered from repeated injuries, while when he has been on the pitch he has failed to show the talent which saw him labelled as the "new Zinedine Zidane" while at Bordeaux.

And Lacombe admits that the midfielder’s form is a concern for Lyon, although he is crossing his fingers that the France international can get back to his best eventually.

"It is a concern", Lacombe said to French radio station RMC, speaking about Gourcuff’s form.

"He is a player who came to use to add more to our team, but he has had a lot of physical problems.

"It is always difficult to come back and today he is having difficulty finding his best level.

"Hopefully he will help us in the second half of the season because we need him like all the others. He is an important player in our squad."

Lyon suffered a huge blow to their title chances yesterday, slipping to a damaging 3-1 defeat at home against Lille.

It is a result which has put Lyon six points behind Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
