Liverpool have likely lost the services of forward Fabio Borini for the rest of the season, according to boss Brendan Rodgers.

Borini entered the action off the bench in Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Swansea City in the Premier League earlier today, but was forced to leave the pitch after landing badly from a challenge only six minutes later.

The Italian was visibly in some discomfort and manager Rodgers believes that he has dislocated his shoulder, which will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

"He will probably be out for the season. It looks like he’s dislocated his shoulder", the Liverpool boss told his club’s official site.

"It’s unfortunate. It’s actually the other shoulder to a similar injury he had when he was at Chelsea.

"It looks like in the early stages that is the diagnosis."

Borini only signed for Liverpool from Italian outfit Roma last summer, but has already had his campaign interrupted by injury.

He missed three months earlier this season after breaking a bone in his foot in October while away on international duty.

The win against Swansea moves Liverpool up to seventh in the Premier League, nine points off a top four spot.
