Manchester City’s midfield talisman Yaya Toure believes Argentine striker Lionel Messi will decide the Champions League semi-final between Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Barcelona booked themselves a place in the semi-finals by edging out Carlo Ancelotti’s Paris Saint-Germain on away goals. Their semi-final opponents, Bavarian giants Bayern Munich, cruised through to the final four by beating defending Serie A champions Juventus 4-0 on aggregate.

“For me, Barcelona are still the favourites”, Toure told radio station RAC 1.

“The match against Bayern will be difficult, but Barca are the best team in the world.

"There are always difficulties in the Champions League, but Barca have managed to overcome them – just look at [their match against] Milan”, the Manchester City midfielder added.

And Toure believes it will be Barcelona’s Messi who will prove to be the decision maker.

“Barcelona has always been a good team – Xavi, [Carles] Puyol. But I think Messi will decide the fate of the match.”

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are due to clash in an epic battle for a spot in the Champions League final, with the first leg of their final-four match set for this Tuesday at the Allianz Arena.
