Hannover have sprung a major surprise on their Bundesliga rivals by snapping up Greuther Furth midfielder Edgar Prib on a four-year deal.
Prib had been on the radars of both Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt until recently, with competing offers from both sides doing the rounds.
However, Hannover seem to have emerged victorious in the transfer race, as the 23-year-old will join up with the ninth-placed club from next season.
Furth were relegated last season from the Bundesliga, with Prib becoming Hannover’s second signing of the summer window after they brought in Salif Sane from Ligue 1 side Nancy at the end of last month.

Hannover head coach Mirko Slomka was quoted on the Bundesliga’s offical site as saying: "In Edgar Prib, we’re getting a versatile midfielder who has already proven his qualities at Furth.
"We’re pleased to have secured another important component in our restructuring of the team."
Prib has been signed on by Hannover for an undisclosed fee from Furth, whom he had joined in 1996 on a youth contract.
The central midfielder played 27 league games for the former Bundesliga club this season, scoring three goals, despite not being able to prevent relegation for Furth, who finished with the wooden spoon.
And Hannover sporting director Dirk Dufner added: "Edgar Prib is a young player with Bundesliga experience who can play in a number of positions. We went to a lot of trouble to sign him and are delighted he has chosen [Hannover]."
The midfielder had attracted interest from abroad previously, when Fulham sent scouts over in February last year to watch Prib as well as striker Sercan Sararer during their 2. Bundesliga days.
