Marseille assistant coach Franck Passi has confirmed that the French giants are keen on Arsenal forward Gervinho.

The Stade Velodrome outfit have already sounded the Gunners out about taking Gervinho on loan for next season, though it remains to be seen what view Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has taken of their approach.

Now Passi, who serves as assistant to coach Elie Baup, has admitted openly that Marseille want Gervinho for next season, insisting that he fits the bill.

"He has the type of profile that interests us, yes", Passi told Le 10 Sport.

"We are looking for dashing players, players that are powerful, good dribblers, passers and score goals.

"Gervinho fits that profile."

Marseille are keen to boost their squad strength in time for next season’s Champions League, a competition for which they have qualified by finishing second in Ligue 1 last season.

Gervinho is no stranger to French football, having turned out for Le Mans and Lille. He joined Arsenal in 2011.
