Brazilian side Santos have explained that the financial demands associated with bringing Robinho back to the club are extremely high.

Santos are hopeful of snapping up Robinho from AC Milan this summer, but could find it a difficult deal to do when taking into account the striker’s wage demands.

"We are talking with someone who represents both Milan and Robinho", Santos’ vice-president Odilio Rodrigues told O Globo.

"The numbers have have been given are very high. We spoke over the phone, so now we are waiting for official confirmation of these figures", he added.

Signing Robinho would be a big boost for Santos, who lost Neymar to Barcelona earlier this summer.

The 29-year-old started his career at Santos before leaving for Real Madrid in 2005.

He returned to the club briefly on loan in 2010.
