Former Fiorentina striker Francesco Flachi believes that his old club must sell Stevan Jovetic this summer to avoid problems for the forward in the dressing room for the new campaign.

Jovetic has admitted that he feels the time has come to leave La Viola, especially with the club having missed out on Champions League football for 2013/14.

Fiorentina have slapped a €30m asking price on the forward’s head and Jovetic has been strongly linked with Arsenal and Juventus, while Real Madrid and Manchester City have also seen their names thrown into the race.

It remains to be seen where Jovetic will be once the summer transfer window closes.

But for Flachi, it is best he is not still at Fiorentina, for all concerned.

"We all knew he would go away", the former striker told Tutto Mercato.

"Besides, he wore the shirt of Fiorentina, he has done his job and made his decisions. He must be respected, but say ‘goodbye and thank you’. No need to cry, but just get someone stronger.

"I just hope that he leaves for €30m, because otherwise his situation in the dressing room and in Florence would not be easy."

Jovetic joined Fiorentina in 2008 from Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade.

The forward had made his debut in professional football in Serbia at the age of just 16.
