La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have met with Jose Maria Orobitg, the agent of 21-year-old club forward Cristian Tello, and have discussed increasing the buyout clause of the player, according to Spanish daily Marca.

The Spanish Under-21 international joined the Catalan giants in 2002 as a youth player. Following another youth stint with Espanyol, he re-signed for Barcelona’s B side the summer of 2010.

Tello – who appeared for Spain at the recently concluded European Under-21 Championship in Israel – made his senior debut for the 2012/13 La Liga winners in November 2011.

He extended his contract with the club in December last year, and his present contract runs until June 2016. His current termination clause is set at €10m.

It is believed that Barcelona are prepared to increase the salary of the highly-rated forward, in order to bump up his release clause.

Tello clocked up 34 appearances under coach Tito Vilanova last season, scoring eight goals, and assisting six times.
