Former French international Christophe Dugarry has hailed the prospect of having Laurent Blanc in the dugout of Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, adding that appointing the former France head coach would be a "great thing".

Not long ago, Blanc was hotly linked with taking the post at Serie A side Roma. But with former Lille boss Rudi Garcia pipping him to the post, Blanc has remained unemployed.

But that would soon change as PSG are thought to have intensified their chase for the former France national team head coach as their current boss Carlo Ancelotti remains jittery in his desire to leave the club for Real Madrid.

Intriguingly, Real Madrid have set their own plan to reel in Blanc to the Santiago Bernabeu as PSG continue to play hardball over Ancelotti.

"Honestly, it’s a great thing for PSG", Dugarry told Le Parisien.

"And he is not a second or third choice, he is a legitimate choice. As a player, he played in the biggest clubs and as a coach he has been more than respectable", the former Marseille and Bordeaux striker added.
