Former England skipper Gary Lineker believes that the English Premier League has complete disregard for the best interests of the national team.

The former striker took to his Twitter account to give a piece of his mind and also commented that the Premier League fixtures, which were released yesterday, seems to have “justifiably upset” manager Roy Hodgson.

“PL fixtures are said to have justifiably upset Roy Hodgson”, Lineker wrote.

“AFC v THFC & LFC v MUFC just days before vital qualifiers. Never help ourselves!”

The first North London derby of the 2013/14 season, as well as the mouthwatering fixture of Liverpool against Manchester United, are slated for 31st August – just days before the Three Lions go head to head with Moldova and Ukraine on 6th September and 10th September, respectively.

Lineker, 52, also received responses from his followers that they no longer care about the national team, and therefore he added that was the reason the Premier League no longer cared about the national team.

“Seems many of you no longer care about the national team”, Lineker added.

“I guess this justifies the Premier League’s disregard for the best interests of England?

“Our views surrounding the national team are as divided as those who run our game.”

Despite the scheduling Lineker highlighted, Hodgson and his men will have five days for the preparations for the World Cup qualifiers – one more than FIFA regulations require.

The Three Lions face Moldova at Wembley, before heading over to Kyiv for the match against the Ukraine.
