Former Malaga left-back Nacho Monreal has given his backing to ex-team-mate Isco ahead of the midfielder’s move to Real Madrid.

Isco is set to become incoming Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti’s first signing next week, when he completes a switch worth around €30m from Malaga to Real Madrid.

And Monreal, who played with Isco at Malaga before joining Arsenal in January, feels sure that the Spain international can be a success.

"Isco can succeed wherever he goes", Monreal told Spanish daily Marca.

"I believe he has already signed for Real Madrid and I am sure he will do very well because he is a real player.

"He may cost more or less, but in the end he will have opportunities and he will take them."

Isco helped Spain Under-21s to the European Under-21 Championship this summer, further adding to his already sky high reputation. He was also on Manchester City’s shopping list this summer.
