Lazio and Brazil midfielder Hernanes has denied reports he has been in touch with French giants Paris Saint-Germain over a move to Ligue 1.

Europe has been watching developments closely over Hernanes, who clocked 34 Serie A appearances last season for Lazio, even if his club are adamant they will not sell.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito last week insisted the 28-year-old was "untouchable", amid interest coming from PSG, as well as from Monaco and Manchester City.

Speaking after Brazil’s 4-2 Confederations Cup win over Italy that helped them top Group A, Hernanes refuted suggestions that an approach had been made for his signature.

He was quoted in L’Equipe as saying: "I read on the internet about the interest in me from France. This is something that makes me very happy, to be perhaps coveted by a club the size of PSG.

"But, to my knowledge, there has been no contact to date between a French club and my representative."

PSG were understood to be ready for a €30m swoop for Hernanes, who has played in all three Confederations Cup games for Brazil so far.

Hernanes’ contract with Lazio runs until 2015, while he has already spent three seasons in Serie A, after moving from Sao Paulo where he won back-to-back Brazilian League titles in 2007 and 2008.

His performances this season helped Lazio emerge from their seventh-placed league finish to end on a high by beating arch rivals Roma in the Coppa Italia final.
