Aalborg head coach Kent Nielsen has explained that Danish striker and new Aston Villa signing Nicklas Helenius has all the traits to become successful in the English Premier League.

The Villans snapped up the 22-year-old forward from the Danish club last week on a three year-deal.

The 6ft 5inches tall striker clocked up 33 appearances for Aalborg in the top tier of Danish football last season, scoring 16 times, and assisting seven times, as the side finished fifth in the Danish Superliga.

"Nicklas has very good vision", Nielsen told Aston Villa’s official site.

"Last season he was not only our highest scorer, he also made the most assists. He is always aware of his team-mates and he has a very good pass.

"He’s also very lively during matches and will always cause problems for the opposition.

"He scored a lot of goals at Under-17 and Under-19 level, and he has continued scoring for the two-and-a-half years I have been at the club."

Helenius started his youth career with Aalborg in 2005. In the 2009/10 season, he became the highest goalscorer in the side’s Under-19 squad in the Under-19 Danish league, with 22 goals. He made his first senior appearance for the side in the following year.

He was also hailed as the Danish Superliga Player of the Season in 2012/13 by UEFA.

Aston Villa, who have already snapped up a handful of players this summer, kick-off their Premier League campaign in the upcoming season on 17th August.

Paul Lambert’s side face heavyweights Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on that day, before a clash with Liverpool at Villa Park on 24th August.
