Highly-rated Manchester United attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa has insisted that he was not happy with his displays in his debut English Premier League season.

Kagawa, who switched to the Manchester giants from Ruhr club Borussia Dortmund last summer, clocked up 26 appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson last season, as the Red Devils bagged their 20th English League title.

The Japanese sensation also scored and assisted six times, and won plaudits for his displays. However, he has explained that he is not at all happy with his showing in the 2012/13 season.

"I am not happy with my performance for the team at all", the 24-year-old told the Premier League’s official site.

“I didn’t score that much and I also had my injury.

“Despite that, it was great we won the league, I just don’t feel that I achieved everything that I wanted. For me personally, it wasn’t a good season."

Kagawa spent two months on the sidelines with a knee injury in the 2012/13 season. He won the Bundesliga titles in both seasons he was with Borussia Dortmund, and was also hailed as the Asian International Footballer of the Year in 2012.

The Red Devils will be joined by former Everton boss David Moyes this summer, and Kagawa is looking forward to starting work under the new club manager.

“I always think that I must play well.

"And I always have an image in my mind of how I want to play, wherever the position. Whenever there is a tough time, whenever it gets difficult for me, I just train and look ahead to the future”, Kagawa added.
