Highly-rated Belgian schemer Axel Witsel seems to have opened the door for a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The 24-year-old Zenit St. Petersburg player has been heavily linked with the 2012/13 Ligue 1 winners, and is believed to be on PSG’s summer shopping list.

The Belgium international switched to the Russian giants from Portuguese side Benfica last summer for a staggering fee of €40m, on a five-year deal.

Witsel, who won plaudits for his displays with the Tramps last season, reiterated that staying with the club is the upper most priority in his mind at the moment.

"For now, I have 100% focus on Zenit”, Witsel told Belgian daily Sudinfo.

"PSG is of course one of the clubs that no footballer can be indifferent to. In absolute terms you can’t refuse them, but there are limits to that."

Les Parisiens are due to appoint former France coach Laurent Blanc as the new head coach of the club this week. Blanc, a former World Cup winner as a player for France, will be unveiled as the new manager, succeeding Carlo Ancelotti, who looks poised to join Real Madrid.

“Laurent Blanc likes me? I don’t know. All I know about him is his sporting career”, Witsel added.

Witsel started his career with Belgian side Standard Liege in 2004. He broke into the senior team in 2006, lifting two back-to-back Belgian league titles in 2007/08 and 2008/09.

He clocked up 44 appearances for his club and country last season, scoring five times, and assisting once; Zenit finished second in the Russian Premier League in the 2012/13 season.

His contract at the Petrovsky Stadium runs until June 2017.
