Big-money Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk are looking to hijack any other deal for Atletico Mineiro starlet Bernard, who is currently competing in the Confederations Cup for Brazil as they move in with a commanding €22m offer.
Bernard, 20, is generously showing signs of becoming a leading player with his performances for Atletico Mineiro and Brazil. Indeed, his goal tally of 15 goals in 47 appearances overall in 2012 for his club side certainly had a few top clubs looking in the direction of South America with their chequebooks in tow.
A prominent suitor for Bernard are London giants Tottenham Hotspur, with boss Andre Villas-Boas keeping no secret his admiration of the youngster, while Primeira Liga heavyweights FC Porto are also believed to be keeping tabs on the Mineiro man.
But all of that fluff talk has been topped by Shakhtar Donetsk, who have taken it upon themselves to barge into the race for Bernard’s signature and put their money where their mouth is by bidding €22m, according to Championat.ua.

Such a bold move should keep competition at bay, especially when Tottenham are only believed to be willing to dish out €18m, and another suitor, Borussia Dortmund, only at €16m.
Bernard has a contract with Atletico Mineiro that will see him play for the club until 2017.
