Premier League side Chelsea have not yet made any formal approach for highly-rated Vitesse youngster Marco van Ginkel, insists the player’s agent Karel Jansen.

Chelsea have been hot on the chase for Van Ginkel’s coveted signature in recent months, and understably so, as the Stamford Bridge outfit see the 20-year-old as having the potential to be the next Frank Lampard.

And no doubt Chelsea were pleased by the rising star’s displays during the 2012/13 campaign, with Van Ginkel recording a tally of 14 goals and 15 assists in his 51 matches in all competitions for both club and country.

Such performances were believed to have prompted the London giants to dish out their chequebook and write off a sum worth €8.5m just to bring in Van Ginkel to the Premier League, with the offer already accepted.

But Jansen has poured cold water on such talk, telling Voetbal International, "We know nothing of an agreement. There hasn’t even been an approach."

The agent has however admitted Chelsea could prove to be a big break for his client, and it is a matter of knowing how much playing time he will get with the English side before anything concrete can be made.

"We are still trying to work out how much playing time Marco will have at Chelsea. Of, course, Jose Mourinho talked with him and the player got a positive impression, that certainly has some impact.

"But it is still especially important for the player if he can be assured of first-team football next season. By then, an agreement would be no question", Van Ginkel’s agent concluded.
